How to run an asynchronous retrospective with Neatro
Embrace asynchronous collaboration with Neatro!
With Neatro, you can run your comment collection step in asynchronous mode.
We’ve made it easier than ever for your team to contribute valuable feedback and insights at their own pace. Participants can share their thoughts and ideas when it suits them best, allowing for more thoughtful input, improved inclusivity, and a streamlined retrospective process.
The asynchronous comment collection feature is ideal for teams distributed across the world.
Why would I collect comments asynchronously?
The benefits of asynchronous comment collection are numerous. Let’s explore three of them:
-
Embrace flexibility: Asynchronous comment collection allows team members to provide feedback and insights at their convenience, accommodating different time zones and work schedules.
-
Increase participation: This approach often leads to higher participation rates, as team members have more time to think about their contributions, resulting in more thoughtful and comprehensive feedback.
-
Save time: By allowing people to share comments asynchronously, you save valuable time compared to a fully live retrospective session — usually 10 to 20 minutes.
How to collect comments asynchronously
Here’s how you can run asynchronous retrospectives with Neatro in a simple way:
1/ As a Facilitator, launch a retrospective. Select a template — or create your own activity — and start your retrospective.
2/ Go to the Comments step (Step 1 out of 4). From there, your teammates can post comments at any time, in fully asynchronous mode.
3/ Click the Invite button (top-right corner of your screen) and copy your invite link. Share it with your teammates.
We strongly recommend using the Team Member invite link mode for seamless asynchronous collaboration.
4/ Leave the retrospective by returning to your dashboard. To do so, click the burger menu on the left.

5/ Then click Leave retrospective.

That’s it! Since you left the session while it was in the Comments step, your teammates will land on this step when joining the retrospective. This means they can add comments even though you are not actively participating at the same time.
On the day of your retrospective, as a Facilitator, you can return to the Icebreaker stage if you activated this option when setting up the session.
Happy retrospectives!
